Coffee Hour

The Appalachian Center will host drop-in Coffee Hour every other Thursday from 10-11 AM. The Center invites students, faculty, staff, and community members for coffee and light refreshments. Come visit with others interested in the region and learn more about the work of the Appalachian Center and the Appalachian Studies Program. Coffee Hour is a space to exchange ideas for programs, initiatives, and events, discuss regional issues, and share research in a casual, collegial atmosphere.

CANCELLED- Appalachian Forum featuring Karida Brown

As part of the "Appalachian Forum" series, the UK Appalachian Center will host a talk by Karida Brown, author of "Gone Home: Race and Roots through Appalachia." Her talk, titled "The Surprise of Appalachia," will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11:00am in Worsham Cinema. This event is supported by the Inclusive Excellence Student Program Grant through the Office for Institutional Diversity. This event is co-sponsored by the Graduate Appalachian Research Community (GARC) and the Department of Sociology.

Evelyn Williams and Anne Braden: Southern Patriot

In celebration of Black History Month, the Appalachian Center will be screening two films by the Whitesburg Ky Media Arts Institute, Appalshop. Join us at the Appalachian Center at 624 Maxwelton Court for Evelyn Williams and Ann Braden: Southern Patriot at 5:00 pm.

Coffee Hour is a space to exchange ideas for programs, initiatives, and events, discuss regional issues, and share research in a casual, collegial atmosphere.
