Application Process

There are multiple steps to completing an AppalachiaCorps internship. The timeline below will guide students through the process.

Prior to Internship

  • Fill out an Inquiry Form to notify AppalachiaCorps staff of your interest in Appalachia, location, skills or experience. This step will add you to our email list so you will receive updates about the internship program.
  • Attend an information session to learn more about the program and ask questions.

All dates for the info sessions are Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. virtually via Zoom:

(If you are unable to attend an information session, contact Dr. Kathryn Engle at kathryn.engle@uky.edu)

  • Make contact with an organization and begin working out details with the potential internship site.
  • In consultation with your internship site supervisor, fill out a Position Agreement, to be signed by the student, partner site supervisor and AppalachiaCorps staff.
  • Complete and submit a Learning Contract by Friday, April 24.
  • Have your internship site supervisor complete a Partner Site Memorandum of Understanding by Friday, April 24.

(Students should not begin work until they are officially cleared through the Appalachian Center and officially accepted into the program.)
