Engagement

The Appalachian Center and Appalachian Studies Program is multidisciplinary in nature and works across departments and colleges throughout the university to promote the vision and mission of the Appalachian Center and Appalachian Studies Program while supporting engagement efforts throughout the University of Kentucky.

For more than 150 years, the University of Kentucky has served counties and communities across Kentucky. As the Commonwealth’s flagship and land-grant research university, we are committed to advancing our state and its people.

Engagement is broadly defined and encompasses the diverse and creative work of our faculty, staff and students on our main campus and in county offices and clinics across the Commonwealth. That creative work includes but is not limited to addressing community arts; community vitality and economic development; health and wellness; industry and workforce development; land-grant university partnership; and youth leadership and service.
