Demystifying Appalachia Week

Date:
-

This two-week event is aimed at critically addressing myths about Appalachia and deepening our collective understanding of the cultural, political, and economic complexities of the region. Throughout the week, College of Education faculty, staff, and students will receive resources related to different, yet intertwined, social justice issues within the region. These resources are intended to raise awareness and broaden understanding about issues and myths surrounding Appalachia. In addition to sharing resources, we hope to personalize the event by gathering individualized stories pertaining to people’s experience coming from, working in, or visiting the Appalachian region. Our De-mystifying Appalachia week will culminate with a panel session representing faculty, staff, and students from the region or those with research experiences related to Appalachia.
