GARC meetings are meetings of graduate students working on planning events, opportunities, and other graduate-related things. We will meet once a week in preparation for the symposium. These meetings are open to any member of GARC and occur in a hybrid format. We will meet in the Appalachian Center Annex Conference Room (641 S. Limestone; entrance is in the back by the gravel lot beside the Appalachian Center and via Zoom). Please see the agenda for topics to be discussed!
Join us for our SWAP (Sharing Work on Appalachia in Progress) presentation at the Appalachian Center or tune in virtually via Zoom. This year's SWAPs will showcase the research conducted by recipients of the 2024 James S. Brown Graduate Student Award for Research on Appalachia and the UK Appalachian Center Eller & Billings Student Research Award, as well as other scholars and students sharing their research.
This group meets biweekly for a 'drop-in' block where grads can stop by and work on writing projects, emails, course prep, etc. with other grads to encourage solidarity and build community amongst those with Appalachian Studies interests. You are welcome to drop in for any part of that time. We will have coffee, tea, and water available. Come write or work with fellow App Studies friends!
Zoom link will be available soon!
