  • ᎤᎶᎩᎳ / Schon Duncan | Member of the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians | Instructor of Cherokee Language at University of Oklahoma

These panelists participated in the Seminar on Indigenous Issues, held April 24, 2024 in New York City, as part of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. The panelists will report back from their experiences with the forum and will discuss Indigenous issues in the Commonwealth and beyond. Learn more about the UN Forum here

Join us also for the film screening of ᏓᏗᏬᏂᏏ (Dadiwonisi) We Will Speak, a feature-length documentary collaboration chronicling the efforts of Cherokee activists, artists, & educators fighting to save the Cherokee language featuring filmmaker Schon Duncan.

GARC Weekly Meeting

GARC meetings are meetings of graduate students working on planning events, opportunities, and other graduate-related things. We will meet once a week in preparation for the symposium. These meetings are open to any member of GARC and occur in a hybrid format. We will meet in the Appalachian Center Annex Conference Room (641 S. Limestone; entrance is in the back by the gravel lot beside the Appalachian Center and via Zoom). Please see the agenda for topics to be discussed!
