This will be a celebration event for all that was accomplished during the week. Prizes will be given, etc., and it can count as a Wired event!
Each night (4/21 – 4/24) we will have the basement available for students to study between the hours of 7 PM – 11 PM. You can log your hours each night. Students who study the most individual hours will earn some really amazing prizes.
So why is it called Study for Zach? Zach is a seven-year-old boy in Lexington who suffers from a degenerative disease called Progeria. During this week, we will also be simultaneously collecting donations for Progeria Research! The floor that raises the most money will win a catered party! We raised $2000 last year, and hope to raise more this year.
You can earn one Wired event for each two hours of studying!!
Come and close out your year in the Living Learning Program with some FREE food and t-shirts, music, and corn-hole! "LLP Award" winners will be announced at this time and awarded trophies. As an LLP participant, you will be able to pick up your completion certificate.
Wear your LLP t-shirt, bring a LLP friend, and come and have fun in between classes!
THIS CAN COUNT AS A WIRED EVENT!! Look for one of the peer mentors to swipe in for your attendance!
This talent show is a joint effort between the Wired Peer Mentors, RAs, and Keeneland Hall Government. Sign up to be in the Talent Show as a participant, and you can get credit for two Wired events. Attend as a member of the audience, and it will count for one Wired event. We hope to see you there!
This is a chance for you to have your resume’ and cover letter questions answered so you can be well prepared in your search for a summer job or Co-op. This event will provide tips and advice on proper resume’ and cover letter techniques. This can count for a wired event for those students who bring a copy of either their resume or cover letter to be reviewed. You can bring either a hard copy or open a digital copy from your iPad.
Students from the College of Pharmacy are going to give a presentation on ways to stay safe during spring break. They will be covering a variety of subjects from sun protection to the dangers of drugs. Afterwards the pharmacy students would like to answer any questions that Keeneland residents have about Pharmacy School. There is going to be pizza there as well!
Come hear Laura Greenfield, Wired Peer Mentor, and Director of Promotions for UK's Center for Community Outreach talk about Seedleaf and the Center for Community Outreach's Highlights Campaign. Laura says:
"I am the director of promotions in the Center for Community Outreach and something we are working on this spring is a Highlight Campaign with the Lexington community garden organization, Seedleaf. The aim of the campaign is to help increase Seedleaf's on-campus presence by hosting talks that will share information about food insecurity in Lexington, what Seedleaf is and what they're doing to combat food insecurity, and how students can get involved! Seedleaf's gardens are less than a mile from campus and, with spring hopefully on the way soon, I can't wait for UK students to hear about all these great opportunities for community outreach and involvement."
Cybersecurity Design & Video Contest: Viewing Party & Winner Reveals!
As a follow-up to the prior program (an interactive informational session on cybersecurity), Keeneland Hall's Adopt-a-Hall team is hosting a competition for Keeneland residents to create multimedia materials for a campus-wide cybersecurity campaign. Please see flyer below. Residents have the option of creating materials in two different categories (i.e., video and design); contest rules can be found on the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1446606145571401/). First and second place winners in each category will receive prizes and their work will be featured across UK's campus for the future campaign. A viewing party will be hosted for residents and staff to see all final submissions and will include homemade popcorn and other fun treats to honor all the residents' hard work! The event will also include an engaging discussion of residents' learning outcomes related to cybersecurity and appropriate technology use. Winners will be announced and prizes distributed at the end.
