Students from the University of Kentucky and throughout the Region came together at the 7^th annual Graduate Appalachian Research and Art Symposium at UK on March 5^th and 6^th, 2016. This event featured Appalachian-focused student research presentations, artistic works, films, and panelist discussions with experts including film-maker and activist Tom Hansell and celebrated author and oral historian Alessandro Portelli.  The keynote speaker this year was Tom Hansell who screened his film After Coal.
