Three University of Kentucky authors will present recent books about mountaintop removal mining, and the treasured landscapes and Appalachian communities that lie in its midst, at a book talk and signing Thursday, Feb. 27.
(Update - September 15, 2014) - Bell's book has been receiving many accolades and awards - among them:
-2014 Association for Humanist Sociology Book Award;
-2014 Silver Medal Winner for the Nautilus Book Awards;
-2014 Runner-up for the Green Book Festival
Bell is also a co-director of Greenhouse, a new living-learning community that engages students in learning about many aspects of the local environment, all in the context of sustainability. Greenhouse opened its doors this fall in Woodland Glen II, one of the brand new residential life buildings at UK.
