Camp Happy Appalachee LGBTQ Gathering

In co-sponsorship with the University of Kentucky Appalachian Center (https://appalachiancenter.as.uky.edu/), the Appalachian Studies Association (ASA) will host the 9th mostly annual (since the first CHA at EKU in 2011) Camp Happy Appalachee LGBTQ gathering at the virtual 2021 ASA conference (http://appalachianstudies.org/annualconference/). This will be the first virtual gathering and will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021, from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm and welcomes all LGBTQ-identifying folks and allies in an inclusive, comfortable, and private online environment.



This event is free and open to the public, with or without ASA membership/registration. However, in order to ensure appropriate online safety and security, advance registration is required: https://forms.gle/mAgZ4Mrdq1HuciJM7. Therefore, only registered participants will receive access details for the event.

Lend-A-Hand Center Spring Creek Cleanup

PLEASE NOTE RESCHEDULED DATE: Join us for a creek cleanup and water testing event on Saturday, April 10th!  Both adults and kids are encouraged to participate. Meet at the Lend-A-Hand Center- 3234 KY 718 Walker, KY. Call 606 622-1385 to pre-register (required, spots are limited). Participants will be given $25 Walmart gift cards for their participation. All cleanup supplies and hand sanitizer will be provided. Lunch will be provided. Social distancing will be enforced and the event will be primarily outside. Bring your mask & waterproof shoes/boots. Lend-A-Hand Center Fall Creek Cleanup

Virtual Spring Coffee Hour

The Appalachian Center will host VIRTUAL Coffee Hours every other Thursday from 10-11 AM during the spring semester. The Center invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to join us via Zoom. Bring your favorite beverage and snacks and visit with others interested in the region and learn more about the work of the Appalachian Center and the Appalachian Studies Program. Coffee Hour is a space to exchange ideas for programs, initiatives, and events, discuss regional issues, and share research in a casual, collegial atmosphere. Please see the Zoom info below.
