Join us as we welcome Rhiannon Giddens for a special concert/lecture at 6pm on November 11th, 2021 for the Bale Boone Symposium through the Gaines Center for the Humanities.

Appalachian Studies Program students have the opportunity to visit with Rhiannon for a special session held at 4pm. Interested students should contact Dr. Engle.

Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence Documentary Discussion

The Appalachian Center & Lewis Honors College are excited to host a virtual screening and discussion of Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence in celebration of Women's History Month. The film screening link will be posted on this site and available to view the week prior to the discussion (March 17th-24th). 

On March 24th 3:00-4:15 join us for a Q&A with Lillian Smith: Breaking the Silence filmmaker Hal Jacobs and actor Brenda Bynum. Watch the film ahead of time and come with questions.
