Appalachian Center Student Travel Award

The UK Appalachian Center supports undergraduate and graduate student research through mentorship, conference facilitation, administrative support, and funding opportunities. 

Applications are OPEN for the 2023-2024 Award cycle.

Appalachian Center Student Travel Award is available to UK graduate and undergraduate students presenting their Appalachian-related work at academic conferences. Awards are limited and awards will be given based on availability. Applications that are received as soon as possible will be given preference. 

Students may apply for Appalachian Center Student Travel Award for up to $250. Awards in excess of $250 may be considered for international conferences. When applying students will provide a budget and proof of conference acceptance. Awards may cover costs including travel, lodging, registration, and any other appropriate costs.  Please note: travel-related expenses must be in accordance with University of Kentucky's current travel guidelines. Award is given up front (not reimbursement).

Students who are not presenting at a conference, but would like to attend can apply for the Student Government Association Professional Development Grant (reimbursement basis).
